The development of social diversity has changed the traditional aesthetic of film and television and made people realize more gender identity

With the rise of internet-distributed TV and the change of Internet technology, the expansion of the scope of film and television themes also provides a new aesthetic experience for creators and audiences. Internet TV plaftorm has promoted the birth of more kinds of background stories and styles, and this diversity enables the audience to increase a lot of recognition of multi-culture. The emergence of transgender movies and TV series has caused significant changes in social cognition and evaluation.

First of all, it raises awareness of transgender issues and changes attitudes toward transgender actors: some shows will choose transgender actors to play transgender roles, which will make the audience more respectful and accepting of such people who are not relatively common in society. Take the show “Transparent,” which presumably follows the protagonist’s father as he ages and announces that he is transgender and wants to live as a woman’s life. The show’s creator, Jill Soloway, is transgender herself, and it is her personal experience that makes the show central. Although the drama caused some controversy after its broadcast, it set an example for leading TV dramas to discuss complex social phenomena, and also made it have a positive and far-reaching impact on viewers and critics.

Secondly, it can promote diversity and inclusion and reduce stereotypes and discrimination in film and television series: these shows break through gender stereotypes in the traditional entertainment industry by presenting transgender characters, and by tapping into the emotions of these characters, audiences can better understand and relate to the diversity and uniqueness of this group.

In conclusion, the transgender genre has had a positive impact on promoting social awareness of transgender issues, promoting diversity and inclusion, and to a large extent also driving the current direction of film and television production. Of course, this is inseparable from the rise of network TV, so that it expands the boundaries of aesthetic experience, to provide the audience with a wider range of choices.
