“Overseas” is a hit single by Artist/ Rapper named Ken Carson. He is known for his very unique and distinct, high-energy, glitchy beats. As well as being one of the bigger artists in the “Punk Rap” and “Opium” sub-genres, he brings a very new and unique style of music that is heavily influenced by punk and metal, and this seen in the music video of “Overseas” mixed with the glitches he uses.
You can see this by the way they dress with a very unique gothic style as well as how the music videos are made.
In the Music “Overseas” you can see the the constant changing of colours in the video and how they sync up with the beat and pace of the song. It gives this very edgy and glitchy feeling, which directly links with the music. Most music videos will have a story line of some nature, but as you can see in the music video for “Overseas” there isn’t any direct story line. You’re sitting there asking yourself what is going on. That speaks directly to the genre of music this song is, with frantic experimental edge to it. The point of the video isn’t to show the story line, but to make you feel a certain way. To have some sort of emotion with the song, this is seen with all of the random bursts of colour, random pictures, and videos coming onto the screen in very low quality. You’re not meant to understand what is going on.
