In today’s world, everybody is inclined towards listening to music. Youth wearing headphones, most of the time listen to their favorite music and song albums on a loop. Listening to music, being part of the pop culture is popular among people, especially youth. The launch of MTV became popular among everyone in 1981.
MTV, which stands for Music Television, was the first 24-hour music video channel that transformed the music landscape. The first video played on MTV was The Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star,” which influenced the music industry. It became influential and helped in shaping the music industry. The music industry has been booming in many ways for many years. It is becoming more popular each day, exploring different tunes, songs, and cultures.
Now if we talk about the world that is influenced by digitalization and listen to music on Spotify and YouTube nowadays, platforms like Spotify and YouTube have become more popular. These platforms also offer a different range of subscription packs to their customers which helps in achieving their marketing and promotional goals.
First MTV Video The Buggles – (Official Music Video) 1981
The first ever music video on MTV was “The Buggles” in 1981 which was a very new concept for everyone those days. The theme of the first-ever music video had futuristic themes of the late 70s and early 80s, with minimalistic visuals.
The music video is more storytelling-oriented compared to one of Dua Lipa’s music videos. The video had slow-paced transitions with very basic editing and did not have any audience engagement as it was made for TV viewers.
It is a Nostalgic symbol of the early MTV era focusing upon retro-futuristic themes. The overall video embraces simplicity in trends, visuals, and shooting which reflects the limitations of the era.
Dua Lipa – Levitating Ft. DaBaby (Official Music Video) 2020
The second video is from one of the music albums of Dua Lipa released in the year 2020, in the digital era. The video is very popular, released on popular platforms “Spotify” and “Youtube” and is largely accessible to the viewers. It had fast-paced editing with seamless transitions and choreographed framing. It uses high-definition filming and digital production with advanced CGI with 360-degree shots.
It also had viral marketing which influenced viewers to make reels and TikTok videos of the song with trending hashtags.
